Back to School (Master’s Update)

As I’m writing this, I have mixed feelings about going back to school, especially since I just left the Toronto Raptors. It’s unfortunate that my Raptors internship ended because I loved being there and being able to learn on my own. However, now that I am back at school, I have to take three more courses to complete part of the requirement for my degree, and I can tell you that….. these courses aren’t very applicable to what I want to do. Ultimately, that makes it tough on myself because I start thinking to myself… “Why am I learning about this?”, “How is this going to benefit me in the real world, especially as a strength coach?”.

Now, the biggest reason why I came back was that I wanted to upgrade my education since I didn’t get into physical therapy school. Also, my tuition is pretty much paid for through scholarships (cover’s half my total tuition) and working as a graduate assistant (I will come out with money). I’m getting paid to do my degree, so that can be a lot more convincing 😛

Although, as we begin to start the winter semester, it’s not really what I expected and it’s a lot different. Some good things, some bad. Overall, I’m just hoping to get my degree done as quickly as possible and then get out in the real world and start doing ‘what I want’ and maybe get a job as a Strength Coach with a professional sports team.

Will see where the future takes me, as I’m just taking things day by day right now and I’m not sure what’s going to pop up.

Hopefully, all works out, and I’ll keep all of you posted!

Cheers,

Remi
