Things to Read to Help Slay Your Day: 7/10/2018

I’m a few days late posting this, but here is your weekly dosage of strength & conditioning, personal development and business related material to check out:

Remi Sovran on the Thic & Thin Podcast – Here is an interview I did for the Thic & Thin Podcast talking about everything from lower back injuries to flaws in the education system, as well as high-performance basketball training. Note: Andrew (Thin) was a client of mine who was dealing with some lower back troubles and had come down to Windsor for an assessment. 

Random Thoughts: June 2018 – Here is a great post by Mike Robertson sharing 15 random thoughts related to strength and conditioning. I thought Mike’s 2nd point about “athlete’s needing more sport-specific strength work” was brilliant. When I was interning with the Toronto Raptors, we did a “lot” of sport-specific strength work with many of the younger athlete’s or individual’s that were playing limited minutes. Definitely an important training consideration in helping any athlete achieve high-performance. 

Fitness Business Authority Podcast with Pat Rigsby – While more on the fitness business-related side of things, I thought this was a great podcast involving Pat Rigsby. In this podcast what I thought was most interesting was when Pat mentioned how some gym owner’s label themselves as kettlebell only gyms. The problem with this is that it only takes one other gym to purchase kettlebells and become a direct competitor. Kind of puts those kettlebell gyms right behind the 8 ball already.
